You don’t have a planning problem with your health goals. You have a follow-through problem that planning is helping you avoid.
A lot of women are incredibly organized, thoughtful, and prepared and still not getting the results they want with their body.
Because mapping it out and actually doing it are two very different things.
Planning can feel like progress. It can give you clarity, direction, even a sense of control.
But none of that creates change unless it’s followed by consistent execution.
You’ll learn:
→ Why planning feels productive but often keeps you stuck in the same place→ The emotional reasons you keep going back to planning instead of acting→ How to make simple, immediate decisions instead of building another “perfect” approach to healthy living→ The shift from constantly restarting to actually building momentum week after week
If you keep reworking the plan every time things don’t go perfectly, you’re not refining your strategy…you’re avoiding the discomfort of sticking with one.
At some point, it stops being about getting ready to become your healthiest self. And starts being about who you’re willing to be in action now.

Hello my friends, welcome back to the Healthy Eating for Busy Women podcast. My name is Kat. I am so happy you’re here.Whether this is the first time you are hanging with me today or the hundredth time, welcome. And if you are new, I have been helping women for […0.6s] last almost decade change their eating habits in a way that really […0.4s] last. And I like to say I am here to help you not just eat healthy, but become a naturally healthy eater in your person and in your identity. And if that depth of work is new to you or maybe sounds a little even pretentious, I promise you will find something in not just today’s episode but previous episodes that helps you. And if you enjoy this podcast, make sure you subscribe so you don’t miss an episode. And if you love this podcast or you learn a little something today, do me a massive favor and give it a five star review with something that you Learned from it. This tells the podcasting platforms that it is a helpful podcast and it really does help it reach more women who need this work.So thank you in advance, but let’s just get to today’s topic and I wanna clarify what I mean by this title, planning sabotage because what we’re not saying […0.5s] is planning for sabotage, right? That’s not what we’re getting at here. What we are gonna talk about is how planning, prepping, calendaring is actually something that can sabotage you. And for my ladies who are a little more intellectual or organized or type a, it’s gonna feel like I’m taking away your, binky or stuffed animal maybe. And I don’t say that to infantilize us or to be patronizing.I say that because for a lot of us, planning an organization is our comfort zone.I am you, I really understand if this is something that feels like you rely on to get results in your life, and you tend to feel like buying the new planner or organizing a calendar or learning new things is how you feel stable in […0.4s] progress. So I wanna address that today. I wanna tell you all the ways are a lot of the main ways that this keeps my women stuck that I coach. And […0.4s] as usual with any episode, we’re not gonna put all of us in the same box, right? You’re here to figure out how this messaging today applies to you.So just use discernment and see what relates. Because planning and relying on planning to […0.5s] make, decisions and create health goals is probably the most serious problem I see women come into contact with when it comes to change. And it really is the ultimate sabotager of type a women when it comes to growth and changing their results with their health body and lives. And this might be very surprising to you, but by the end of today, you’re gonna understand why, because here’s the problem that so many of y’all are dealing with. You’re a really great planner, so you’re very organized. You’re the person that maybe, even if this isn’t you, but maybe you travel and everyone relies on you to make sure everything gets done correctly. You’re that person that […0.5s] has her head on straight and you really pride yourself for that type a […0.5s] perspective and you love to plan. You love organizations. It’s your favorite part of a lot of things. Maybe at the beginning of the year, it’s this really fun ritual for you to get a new planner, […0.5s] new notebooks, new habit trackers, whatever that is.And what I want us to be really honest about today and this might sting a little is if you are doing that and you’re really invested in love and planning, but you still don’t have the optimal results you want with your eating habits, your body and maybe even other areas of your life. And if this is you, I understand you, it is okay. Nothing has gone wrong and this is solvable, alright? But we’ve gotta establish that first and be really honest. You can be honest here on this podcast. We keep it real and we don’t do it, while shaming ourselves. No shame here. What I want you to see is if you are a great planner and don’t have the results, what usually tends to happen is […0.4s] you will plan really well, feel motivated and feel like you’re gonna succeed, and then you’ll get about 60% of the way there. So this can happen in a short amount of time or a long amount of time. I see it where we’ll get through 60% of a week and follow through on a plan to get healthier and then we’ll quit. Or I see it sometimes where all coach women long term, and they’ll get to 60% of the way to their weight loss goal and then feel like they wanna sabotage and pull themselves back. And then what happens is you are left frustrated, still wanting the result of, maybe weight loss or changing a health symptom or your body. And you feel almost resentful because you’re so organized, you’re smart, and you’ve done all the work to get there in your mind because you’ve planned for all of it. So what’s going wrong? I hope this rings a bell, because if so, I get you.And here’s the problem. So this is the problem that’s appearing at the surface, but here’s actually the deeper thing that we need to solve for. What you will need to do is you will need to stop believing falsely that planning has anything to do with the results you wanna create. And I’m gonna say that again so that we can sit on it. And I’ll explain. You need to stop believing falsely that planning is what creates the results with your body, with your eating habits, with your health.Because where I want to challenge you today, and I really want you to hear me is that it doesn’t. Creating a calendar doesn’t make you follow through with the calendar, right? Creating a habit tracker doesn’t cause you to resourcefully come up with a strategy that works for you. What you’re doing is you’re wanting to feel good, because you’re creating a checklist that makes us feel like we’re getting somewhere, and we’re improving. When really we’re just staying on the surface of our growth.Creating the results you want requires growth from you, and growth is uncomfortable, and creating the results you want with healthy eating and weight loss only happens when you take action on decisions you make.Which if you don’t have the result, you are not doing. And you guys, I coach myself on this isn’t something that is a human flaw. This is just something that we will do with a is our brain wants to stay comfy and cozy in what feels good and feels productive, but it doesn’t actually make us uncomfortable. When you are growing into […0.5s] healthy eater, you’re losing weight, your overcoming health symptoms, it requires you to change who you are as a person, change your behaviors. And that is meant to stretch you and make you uncomfortable. But what’s happening for a lot of us type Aers is we are getting […0.5s] really […0.5s] stuck in the planning stage and organization stage where we micro manage our external environment where we prep all the foods, make all the plans, and then we don’t actually follow through long enough to create sustainable change. And then what happens when we, quote quote, fall off track is then we’ll create a new plan or buy a new planner or get a new habit tracker. I want you to see that this is not taking action on your results. You are stalling and you are dabbling and you are staying where it feels comfortable because to break through this comfy pattern, you’re gonna have to stop letting yourself indulge in this planning behavior. Now, it’s not to say that there’s anything wrong with the plan, but there is something sabotaging about unit planning, about using planning as a way to keep you from the discomfort of change. So planning keeps us feeling like we’re being productive when all we’re doing here is dabbling in the results we want without ever actually creating them. And you guys, I have seen this […0.4s] stuck point keeping women from the results they want […0.4s] for years, and I don’t want this to happen to you. It is really easy for us to have the story that were organized and we’re working towards our health goals when really we’re not at all. We’re just really good at having this facade that we have it all together because we plan […0.4s] really well. We organize it all, we prep, but then we’re not actually making all the eating decisions. We need to make the decisions with our body to have different results. This is really important and this is why coaching exist. This is why I coach. We will all have this mental block, and that is why it is my job to help coach y’all through this. Now here’s, I was gonna say, here’s the tough love, as if I haven’t given you guys tough love already, but this is the main tough love point. If you’re not taking action on your health goals enough to create them, you might as well not have even created a plan. And this is not me being hard on you guys. It just I want you to see that the functionality you may be thinking a plan has it, it doesn’t have that functionality, right? If you’re not taking action on your goals enough to create them, then the plan is useless, […0.5s] because your results still match those. As someone who didn’t prioritize it at all, there’s not much separating us from another person who doesn’t have the result at all, except that we do a lot of extra work for no results when we’re planning constantly. And this is really tough to process.I think it’s really tough to process that the things we put so much time into planning and prepping and researching actually isn’t what creates the changes, its actions, it’s willing to fail, it’s getting uncomfortable. It’s actually doing the emotional work to stop overeating and stop emotionally eating and to learn […0.5s] and to master those emotional skills rather than outsourcing to things that feel less uncomfortable like planning and prepping and calendaring, right? And so I want you to understand that the goal of all of this is, of course to help you get the results you want, but the bigger goal I want for you guys is for you to stop being a person who believes planning creates results because it doesn’t inherently create results, and 2 relies on planning to create results because life is messy, plans are gonna go wrong, things are gonna feel unstructured sometimes. And when you have this faulty belief system that a plan and organization is what creates results, which it doesn’t following through does. Then anytime something, doesn’t go according to plan. You can use the justification to drop everything, cause you’re like, well, my plans are ruined. And I know you guys know what I’m talking about, cause I’ve done it too. But you’re gonna do this in your own way, so don’t be afraid to be honest about that.So here’s the process to overcoming planning sabotage. I just […0.4s] want to offer you four key things that are gonna really help this. The first thing I want you to do is I want you to process what feelings. You are using planning to comfort. So if you’re new to me, we talk all about feelings, because feelings are actually what determine how you show up, how you take action. And if you are not aware of your feelings, welcome, I teach you how to do that in my programs. You can get started in my membership, that is the best, […0.5s] but in order to overcome this type of sabotage and indulgent planning, you were gonna have to process the feelings, the discomfort that you’re using planning to comfort away from.So what you will need to do first here is become more aware of your relationship to your health goals. So when you think about your ultimate weight loss goal, let’s say, or overcoming some chronic illness, or, changing your body in some way, what are the first thoughts that come up if you’re not lying to yourself? Some of you guys might have some positivity where you’re like, oh, I feel hopeful, I feel this. No, let’s get deep down in our body and say, what are my first opinions on that? And I want you to see where there might be doubt, or there might be imposter syndrome where there might be inadequacy. Not to feel negative, you guys, but because we can’t lie to ourselves about results we haven’t created yet.Our brain is designed to question what it doesn’t have evidence of, and this doesn’t mean […0.5s] anything has gone wrong. So if you have doubt about a result you’re creating, what tends to happen is when we experience discomfort, we’re gonna Wanna comfort ourselves to not feel that thing or address that thing. What a lot of you guys are doing is you’re staying in preparation and planning in order to feel like you’re getting there, and you’re making progress. When actually you’ve been planning and preparing for your transformation for years without the results to show for it. And I want you to stop wasting your time.If you notice doubt or uncomfortable imposter syndrome, this is a good thing. It means you want it, and it means you’re ready for that growth. But notice what emotions come up if you set constraints with planning, where you’re not […0.5s] allowing yourself to make a hobby out of the planning, the vision boards, all the surface level work that distracts you from just taking action and risking failure for your goals. Those things like the planning in the vision boards, I love them. I do them too. They’re not inherently bad, but they are a form of sabotage for you if you’re doing those things without the results. So notice what emotions you have when you think about not doing those things. If you have resistance, this is your answer, my friend. We wanna make sure you’re doing these things responsibly. So the second thing after you have acknowledged the feelings of discomfort that come up is you want to make very quick decisions for how you’re gonna reach your health goals now.So in this moment, you guys, decisions happen in an instant. We don’t need to brainstorm endlessly or have a whole planning session, none of that planning is such a quick thing.Decisions are such a quick thing and we want to work the muscle in your mind to be able to make quick decisions on what you’re gonna implement. And it should be a very short […0.4s] list for what you’re gonna take action on This Week, this month, this year, for your goal. And then once you create that, you’re gonna decide, I’m not gonna model this and get a whole new planner or create a vision board on this. I’m just gonna start doing it. I’m gonna set a goal to start doing it.And then […0.4s] number three, what you’re gonna do? You’re gonna take action on what you have quickly decided. You’re gonna coach yourself on your thoughts and feelings when you don’t wanna do it, when you have resistance and again to learn how to do that, get inside my membership, I’ll teach you, because you’re gonna take action and coach yourself because then what’s gonna happen is the last thing, it’s gonna be.4. Now when you’re not distracting yourself with planning, preparing, you have now taken action, and now you’re gonna evaluate real progress.Honestly, you’re not gonna go and get a new planner just because you messed up, and you’re like, the plan must have been wrong. No, you didn’t follow through or you did, and if you didn’t, it’s okay, […0.4s] but we need to be honest about that and see what’s going on.Do not reinvent the wheel with a new plan every time you fail. Do not reinvent the wheel every time you fail or experience discomfort. This is when you’re gonna wanna reach for the shiny object syndrome of the planner and the tracking, because that is what you’re doing.Every time you fail, every time you fail or feel uncomfortable, you reinvent the wheel, so everything feels shiny new, and you can feel hopeful about your progress without ever actually taking action on it. That changes everything. What a planner will never allow you to do or always reaching for a new plan. What a planner will never allow you to do when you’re always reaching for a new plan is to hone the muscle of self parenting. So when you make decisions, you acknowledge where you didn’t follow through. And that is where you’re spending your time. You’re going to work the muscle of honesty and responsibility. Because you guys need to understand when you focus on tracking, habit trackers, like planners, things like that, you’re staying in this good student mindset where you wanna get an a on what you do every day.And that is not the point. What we care about are the results with your body that you’re creating, right. And so to place a focus on that, we need to zoom out and evaluate from a bigger picture of how you’re showing up versus zooming in on the mynuchet of data day actions. It is just such a limited elementary scope of what it requires of you to actually become the healthiest version of yourself. What we’re talking about here is more advanced growth work. And so know that you’re not getting on a test to get to the healthiest version of you.You are building skills and creating a new identity. And so we need you to look at your progress and failures as data weekly and then build on that from there.A checklist or a habit tracker or focusing on those things will not allow you to do that at the level that you need to actually confront where your work is.So make different decisions. So in that process, you can make different decisions for your progress when it is needed because you’ll actually be evaluating what went right and what went wrong and what it is for you to work on, and what is available for you to work on every week.Recommit to what you’ve decided or come up with a tweet decision based on what you found. And by the way, if this sounds a little over your head, my membership, we evaluate every week, and you learn how to master self evaluation, so you’re never getting stuck here. So again, make sure you get in that membership truly you guys. It’ll teach you everything you need to know now. Here is the result you create from this, cause it’s really important to understand that it’s not just about creating the results you want with your body. It’s understanding who you become as you do it. That determines whether you keep the results or not.So you’re gonna create results, you’re gonna grow, you’re gonna overcome […0.5s] resistance, but biggest thing is you’re gonna stop hiding in plans […0.5s] and more for lack of better word, immature dabbling in the results you want. This really is a growth area for us as women to be able to mature in our health and the decisions we make in that area. Instead of wanting to become someone different by planning for it. You’re gonna start being her now and practicing that implementation. The value of this is you really get to become someone who gets it done no matter what.I want you guys to know that there is a big identity shift that happens when you’re starting this working, dabbling to committing to being a woman who eats healthy naturally and has her ideal weight. What happens when you reach that identity is there’s a lot of things you leave behind. And I would say one of the biggest things I see is women at that level who you’re becoming right now. They don’t dabble, they don’t excessively plan, they don’t do anything more than is necessary for their health or the result because they’ve already created it. They’re not seeing themselves as someone who has to work harder. They’re just focus on taking action and providing themselves what they need.So it’s really important to consider what identity do you stay stuck in when you normalize over planning and over prepping for your success rather than taking action. When you create this new identity, your results will feel super stable, because you’ll realize you can trust yourself to make decisions and follow through with them. You will respect and view yourself more highly because you spend no time dabbling or wasting time. And above all, you guys, you will feel more mature, your health results will reflect it, and your confidence will be higher than it’s ever been.So if you are experiencing, realizations in this episode, or you’re even having resistance to hearing this, my love, you are not alone. I coach women through this all of the time.I have coached myself through this many a time.
