Belief Roadblocks In Your Health Journey

And some belief systems holding you back don’t need to be pushed past, reframed quickly, or solved with a new strategy.

They just need to stop you in your tracks.

And in case you are not aware again, maybe you are new to my work, but the way you think and your belief systems around your health […0.6s] all of it really matter. And it’s what’s going to make or break your progress.And if you have been feeling stuck for some time with your health journey, that is okay. I am so happy you’re here. And really when it comes down to belief work, it might sound a little frilly or intimidating.But all we’re talking about […0.5s] is how you think about this area of your life and how you think is going to determine how you show up to this area of your life with healthy eating and weight loss and ultimately what results you have. So we want to have a really clear eye on your thinking.And just for perspective in my process, my membership where women come in and create these results, the very first thing we have them become very acutely aware of is their thinking. So it is top priority in this space.And i want you to think about that today. Cause what will happen […0.4s] is we will […0.6s] start to become aware of our thoughts.So maybe you’ll be like, i was in the past where you’re interested in personal development, you’re interested in having more productive positive thinking around health, and you notice that work, but then […0.5s] you just dabble in it and then move on. And you’re like, but what do i really do to solve this problem? I’m ready for the actionable tips, i’m ready for the strategy.And maybe you don’t really prioritize the mindset work as much as you need to be, and that’s okay.I am a recovering cynic in this work and now i do it for a living because i understand that it is ultimately what […0.5s] is gonna be the game changer. And what i want you guys to pay attention to are the belief systems, the specific belief systems that are gonna be holding you back.And no matter what you do, no matter how much you strategize in this area, it’s not gonna allow you to have the results you want sustainably […0.6s] with your eating habits or with weight loss.And what will happen is if you keep the belief systems that we’re gonna talk about today, then somewhere along the line, you’re gonna find self sabotage occur. And this won’t be your fault. It’s not because you don’t want the result, or you’re not committed.It’s just because there’s belief systems that you didn’t yet notice, or which is, sometimes our brains favorite thing to do is you do notice them, but then you just move on to the next thing.Because you like me, maybe are a perpetual problem solver. And that’s where you like to spend your time rather than sitting with what actually needs to be healed, […0.5s] call you out a little bit. Maybe i call myself out daily, so we’re a good space here together. Haha.And what can happen a lot with my ladies and my membership, and maybe this is happening for you, […0.5s] is you’ll come across a belief system that you realize doesn’t serve your health journey, right.So maybe you really believe that you’re gonna have to restrict food in order to lose weight, or you really genuinely believe that you’re gonna have to push and exhaust yourself to keep this off or whatever it is.When you notice belief systems that don’t serve you, and you’re aware of that, you really need to sit with them and examine them closely, cause here’s what happens with my ladies, and this is by design, my brain does this too, is we will uncover very telling thought patterns and belief patterns that they have in their brain, and then what happens is the, my ladies are like, i know that’s what i’m thinking, but what about this?And then they’ll move on to solving a different problem, and then they’ll always end up back at that root belief system that was holding them back in the first place, right.So all i’m saying here to start off is do not try and skip over what belief systems are actually creating the results you have […0.5s] now. And i’m gonna help you do that.Today, i’m gonna give you some thought patterns that are most common for […0.5s] women i coach, and that most holds them back. And chances are one of these are present for you right now.And when you notice any one of these thought patterns, i want you to take them captive. And i want you to really practice high […0.4s] acute awareness of them. Because if you are not […0.5s] aware of them coming up and running your decisions, they’re gonna sabotage your results.And then this is why you end up in this all or nothing dance in this area […0.6s] of your life. So i’m just gonna list these out, and you guys, they’re gonna be very general, but i want you to examine them.One of the biggest ones i see, this is a belief system around health and weight loss is the belief system that i need to do more. I’m gonna have to do more in order to create the weight loss. I want now for those of you who are like, well, of course, i’m gonna have to do more.Hold on, this is a very specific belief system, because what i need to do more means in the scope, the perspective of the women eye coach is that you’re gonna have to put in more effort, right? Emotional effort, and you have a limited amount of effort to spend during your days.And likely what’s happening right now, if you’re listening to this podcast, and you’re my type of lady, is you do not have the effort to spend […0.7s] endlessly in areas of your life.So that’s gonna be a no go. You’re gonna wait until you have time, until you have energy. And it’s gonna make this result completely inaccessible to you where you’re gonna burn out.And then that’s the all or nothing that we talk about, right? And then where this gets really problematic when you have the belief system, i need to do more is you’re constantly gonna let yourself down, because you’re basing […0.4s] this result, i’m working harder, not smarter.And so you’re gonna constantly disappoint yourself, think you’re never doing enough, and you’re just gonna feel very, unworthy and inadequate, and it’s not gonna be fun. And so i want you to notice this belief system.If you genuinely are believing that you’re gonna have to push and exert yourself and do more as an effort […0.4s] to see this result.And what i want you guys to know is if this belief system is happening, it will sabotage you because you’re always gonna give more effort, and it’s not gonna be working smarter, it’s gonna be working harder.[…0.5s] Another one i see is i need to figure out the right way to do this. So we’ve all been here. Maybe this has to do with a specific meal protocol, a diet. Right foods versus wrong foods, right weight versus not […0.6s] right weight, versus not right calories will just drive ourselves crazy.And i need to do this right, is really a problematic belief system, because it doesn’t sound like it is, it sounds very logical.What i want you guys to understand is the emotional experience of searching for the right way means that you’re gonna have an experience where you think there’s a way to do it wrong. And if you believe that you are doing it wrong, you’re gonna be filled with all types of doubt, shame.And your focus is gonna be on finding the right way rather than figuring out what makes you tick, and how to customize healthy eating and weight loss for you. So what i’m really saying with this belief system is that you think there’s a right way and a wrong way.And if you […0.5s] really believe that when it comes to eating healthy and losing weight in that black and white way, you’re constantly going to be searching for what that one right way is, and you’re gonna have, have a relationship with setbacks, and, quote unquote, doing things wrong, that is entirely shameful. And that’s gonna be what the sabotaging pattern is.I know i am going deep with each of these thought patterns here, but y’all, this is not my first rodeo been doing this for ten years.So if this relates to, you are in good hands, it is okay. I have gotten myself through these thought patterns, and hundreds of women i coach have too. You can do the same.Okay, you don’t have to get stuck here. Now another belief system that you need to really hold captive. If you see it, and there’s nothing wrong if you believe this is the belief system, this isn’t gonna work for me.So this is where our brain, others, ourselves and a lot of us have this belief system that we are a special snowflake, which it just is what the brain does. And you’re gonna think this won’t work for me, this isn’t gonna, create the result, right?It’s this belief system of nothing is ever gonna be enough, i’m just always gonna fail.And what will happen how this sabotage shows up the personal belief you’re having, but then how it will show up on the surface is thinking, oh, the process i’m doing isn’t working. Something is going wrong. I’m doing everything and nothing is working right.It’s gonna show up as blaming external things when really you believe that nothing is gonna work for you. And that’s affecting how you show up, and it’s coming from total inadequacy, total imposter syndrome.There has been many a client myself, probably for you, where your imposter syndrome with creating the result and thinking you’re not capable of having. It is suddenly showing up and self sabotaging behaviors that you might not even be aware of.So it’s gonna be really important that if you notice belief systems that view you as another that something is wrong with you inherently. You wanna be really aware of that, because it can never be true. Healing our body isn’t complicated. It just becomes complicated when we make ourselves a special case in our heads.Alright, so we’ve got to see that when it’s happening. And the last one i really want to offer here and again, this comes up a lot is the belief system that you should […0.6s] be […0.4s] doing better than you are right now.And i want you to hear me, because we will say this, it’s a fact, and it couldn’t be further from the truth. You might have the belief system that you should be in a different place than you are right now.And a lot of you who are intellectually leading or your type a […0.6s] might base […0.5s] where you should be on your knowledge. So what you know, you base what, where you should be on, what you know, and you have the belief system that just because you know what to do, that you should be able to do it.And those are two entirely different areas of work where intellectually you’ll understand things very quickly, but then behaviorally the time it takes to build that skill and learn.It is completely separate. But where you keep yourself stuck is you believe that you should be doing better than you are right now because you intellectually know what to do.And what’s happening is when you believe this, you’re not understanding how skill building works in this area, which is okay, i didn’t know this either back in the day.And really what needs to happen is you can’t just learn how to play a sport, in other words, right, you need to actually practice it, figure out your muscle memory and actually build these skills over time.And y’all eating healthy, healing emotional eating, honoring your body cues. Losing weight […0.5s] is no different. It’s not about what, you know, it’s about the trial and error of building the skills.So if you have the belief system that you should be doing better than you are right now, it’s a lie. It’s just gonna hold you back, fill you with inadequacy and shame.And you’re gonna stay in that kind of pitying mentality that you’re a mess and that you’re less than when really all we need you to do is establish that where you’re at is happening for valid solvable reasons. And we have to validate that rather than dismiss that.And these are the main ones. I see there’s many more, and there’s gonna be some that are very personal to you, which is great. That’s okay. But what […0.5s] i want you to make sure you do is i want these thoughts to stop you in your tracks like a deer in the headlights.All right, i don’t want you to just see this as thought work. It’s a checklist to do. Cat told me to look at my thoughts and then move on. No, this isn’t a checklist.This needs to be a moment of introspection where you step back a little and say, […0.5s] whoa, that is what i’m thinking every single day. I want you to take a moment and acknowledge, no wonder i haven’t created the result yet. This is what’s been running my decisions.Oh my gosh. Not in a negative way, but in this aha, moment where it all makes sense because i want this to stop you and your tracks. Like these thoughts, i want you to be surprised by them as if you heard a six year old […0.5s] say these thoughts to you. So i want you to imagine a little six year old child who genuinely believes these thoughts and says to you, […0.5s] i’m not doing enough right now, cat or to you, i’m not doing enough right now.I can’t get it together. I should be doing better. I’m doing it wrong. And she believes that, the sky is blue now what we’re supposed to be surprised when she then struggles and doesn’t show up and succeed.No, we wouldn’t be surprised. We’d be like, of course, this little child isn’t showing up to the tasks i want her to do because this is what she’s believing, right?We wouldn’t be surprised if the child no longer put effort towards this area when she constantly thinks she’s doing it wrong, and she feels the pressure of needing to do it, right.So i want you to really sit with this and to validate with you in your humanness, why your belief systems are really affecting where you’re at right now.And, explore why do you think that, where is that coming from, because we’re gonna have to change that in order for you to create this result maturely and sustainably.Whether that’s a weight loss goal, whether that’s healing your eating habits, healing other body symptoms, things like that.And what we wanna make sure you do is that you’re someone who continuously checks in on this part of you. If you notice a belief system, like i just said here. Develop a practice where you actively check in on that, and see how it’s affecting how you show up every day.How do you show up to your eating decisions when you tell yourself i have to do it right today? How do you show up to your weight loss goal for the week? If you genuinely think that it’s not gonna work for you, it’s all gonna make sense once you’re really honest with yourself.Now on one hand, i always say this with belief work and thought work. We don’t wanna pity ourselves or make ourselves less than for any thoughts we have. That’s not what we’re saying here. So we don’t wanna add drama or suffering to the thoughts we notice.What i’m referring to here is full awareness and compassion […0.4s] for belief systems. You are genuinely having right now that are running your decisions, whether you realize it or not.All right, and i’ll tell you guys the thought i most aware of with myself over years is the thought this won’t matter anyways, because you’ll never be enough, which, i know that sounds really terrible.But where i’m at in my thought work and the skill i’ve developed is i don’t have pity […0.4s] when i notice this thought, because something i have the privilege of seeing multiple times a week that y’all might not have is we’re all having thoughts like this, right?I’m not a special case, and neither are you. Sometimes i’m like, dang cat. That’s a little harsh, but it’s just the brain, and we have to be aware of how thoughts like this are attempting to run our decisions.So if you have not dove into belief work yet or thought work or the functionality of it, welcome, i am here to help you completely change your results in this area.Because what i can promise you is if you open up your mind to this work, it is going to fill so many gaps that are the reason why you haven’t created this result yet.
