So make sure you do that, but do everything you can to show up live because I’m going to be coaching all of you on that call to eating healthy consistently. So I’m excited to see you there. All right. So let’s talk about eating and your energy levels. This is a really crucial topic when it comes to becoming a naturally healthy eater.
And solving your food struggles because your energy levels will always indicate how properly you are caring for yourself. And this is not to shame ourselves if we notice that we have low energy. It’s really just like taking the temperature on how effectively you are caring for your emotional state. So we’re going to talk about that in today’s episode, but first I want to address the biggest problem I see all of you run into.
when it comes to improving your energy levels and creating healthier [00:03:00] eating habits alongside that. And as all of you know, I’m not speaking just from coaching hundreds of you, but also my own experience. So there’s no judgment coming
From me, I have been through all of it. And what normally happens is that you will blame external circumstances for your lack of energy and unhealthy eating habits, right? So this is when we will claim that our job, our partner, our kids, any part of our world is the reason why we lack energy. And this is really normal and common for us to do.
We’ll say that we’re just so busy, that things are really crazy right now, that the kids are a lot. Our partner isn’t being supportive. And we will attribute that to being the cause for why we feel fatigued, why we don’t have a lot of energy. So what this relationship to our energy will do is it will actually add on more overwhelm, more helplessness, and more resentment.
to the fatigue that we’re already experiencing. [00:04:00] It’s going to drain your energy even more. So then you really feel like you have a lack of energy because of your relationship to having this problem at all. And because you blame external circumstances for your energy levels or lack thereof, of course, you will naturally think that the solution to improving the energy is.
is changing something externally. So you’ll think, okay, I must have to change my job. I must need a new relationship. I need the kids to go to college. I need to change what foods I’m eating. And it’s not that these things are wrong to do. They can be useful and it makes sense why your brain thinks that these are the solutions.
But what I want you to know is this is not solving the root problem. Of why you’re experiencing low energy throughout the day, why you’re fatigued, and why as a result of that, your eating habits are not where you want them to be. The truth is you actually don’t utterly exhaust yourself with the foods you eat, your [00:05:00] actions, or anything outside of you. That is not possible.
You can only truly exhaust yourself emotionally. So you can only exhaust yourself with your thoughts and how you think on a daily basis. So we’re going to really understand in this episode how that happens so you can examine See where you’re creating an energetic leak in your weeks, which is why you feel so exhausted.
And it’s why you feel like you have such minimal capacity to eat healthy and meet your needs.
The solution to healing this area and gaining energy back is to stop focusing on how to fix your external environment to have energy because the reality is life is always going to be a hot mess. I think there can be so much peace available in accepting this fact. We cannot depend on perfect external circumstances ever to have energy.
and meet our needs in this way, right? You’re always, always going to have [00:06:00] demands and that is not going to solve the root problem. What you will need to do is focus on changing the way you as a human being approach your emotions and stress. So you can stop exhausting yourself further by trying to micromanage everything, in your external environment. What I want you to do, and you can think about this now as you’re listening to the episode, or you can do this separately, is I want you to get an inventory of the thoughts you think most often daily.
All right, so just really gaining awareness of what those thoughts are, and I want you to consider How do you speak about the circumstances in your life now? Because you’re a human being, and here’s what you’re going to find. I am no different, you guys. You’re going to find a lot of thoughts that do not serve you.
You’re going to start to make sense of why you experience so much stress and fatigue on a day to day basis, because your thoughts that you choose to think daily, whether [00:07:00] consciously or unconsciously about the circumstances in your life. And those thoughts are what create your emotional experience, which is what determines how much energy is being drained from you on a daily basis.
So what I’m going to do for us here is I’m going to walk through a few common examples that I see. with my clients and I have experienced all of these examples in my life and I’m betting you have too. So I’m hoping that they really help you understand why your thoughts matter, why your emotional energy matters, and why all of this is what actually contributes to your fatigue and exhaustion.
Not the foods you eat, not your job, not your relationship, and not anything external. And quick disclaimer, right? It’s not that those things don’t contribute at all to fatigue or exhaustion. Of course, it can be totally useful and normal to want to change some of these external things in your life, if you see that that serves you.[00:08:00]
But I just want you to see together here that it’s not the root cause. problem because I want you to feel more in control and empowered over your energy levels so you can start providing yourself and your body what you need. So, alright, here’s a really common example and this will not come as a surprise to anyone here.
It is the example of having the thought I’m busy. So that very much fits the culture of this podcast. And what will happen is so much of the time we will be going through our days or our weeks just thinking the thought, I’m busy. And then what we will do from that belief is we’re going to come up with a whole narrative around our lives.
for why we’re just so busy and why we just don’t have a lot of time or energy. We will create an entire identity around this thought. We’ll come up with a whole backstory for this. Now, for most of my clients who have this lens, who have these thoughts, who have this story, they are perpetuating [00:09:00] the emotion of overwhelm throughout their days.
Now, here’s a really quick thing to know about emotions. It’s not the single thought, I’m busy, and the emotion of overwhelm that will emotionally exhaust you. It doesn’t have that power. What creates emotional exhaustion is when these thoughts are reoccurring over and over unchecked throughout your life, and they are leaking your energy throughout your days because overwhelm just keeps layering.
So what normally happens from overwhelm is these women will react to the overwhelm in their life and procrastinate, or they might even hustle. They might comfort with food because the. Overwhelm is occurring in their body and it all just feels like too much. They will avoid meeting their needs with their health because they’ll think that they’ll have to do it at a later time because they’re just so busy and that leaves them with a life that feels even more overwhelming because of how it’s being fueled emotionally.[00:10:00]
So all of this exhaustion fits into a narrative that this person is just so, so busy and that’s why they feel exhausted. Do you see how that works? Where it all starts is with the thoughts and how we handle them. Where it all starts in this example is with the thought, I’m busy, that resulting overwhelm,
and the relationship we have to that thought and feeling in our life. But I would love for you to examine
If this relates to you. So determine what is the thought that you might be experiencing daily that is an energetic leak and is ultimately creating exhaustion in your life. The sooner you become aware of this, the closer you get to gaining this energy back and not emotionally exhausting yourself.
All right, so here’s another thought I often see, and again we have to have compassion for ourselves as the humans because our brain is going to offer us some thoughts, and that’s totally normal, so no judgment. A thought I see often, and [00:11:00] I’m going to paraphrase a little bit here, is the thought. Okay, so maybe this is not the exact thought that you will have, it will be more specific to your life and your circumstances, but it’s the general thought that this is happening to me.
So maybe it’s my job is happening to me, my relationship is happening to me, my kids are happening to me. Whatever it is, we will just have thoughts that create the feeling of helplessness in our body. And this is natural for the brain to do, to opt out of responsibility and offer this helplessness. It’s something that your brain will offer you if you don’t maintain awareness of it.
So, I want you to just consider what thoughts do you have about your life that present as happening to me thoughts that are as a result creating a sense of helplessness in your life. We can all agree that the feeling of helplessness feels debilitating. It does not feel stable. It can [00:12:00] feel almost panicky in the body over a long period of time. And it takes a lot of energy to have that feeling continuously. So this is another case of piled on thoughts that will emotionally exhaust you if you’re not being aware of them. What tends to happen from this thought and how clients react
is having a lack of boundaries and not saying no a whole lot. And then from that we’ll take on more things and then we will self perpetuate this cycle of thinking that our life is happening to us. It’s this continued belief that we are not in control and what we aren’t seeing is how we are actually creating that environment.
So I hope that you can see how this cycle works and it feels relatable. It really is common. So if you notice these thoughts of something is happening to me, it doesn’t mean anything about you. The point of this is I just want you to see how powerful our thoughts are in terms of our energy. [00:13:00] And this is absolutely a problem that you will need to solve for to eat healthy naturally so you can lower your cravings and get your energy back.
Because I want you to imagine not solving a thought problem like this and then attempting to solve your energy externally. So in your external environment, you will need to keep micromanaging your life to have the perfect circumstances to maintain your energy because your energy is also being leaked and drained internally from the thoughts you’re thinking.
So you’re gonna have to work really hard to micromanage your external environment with an unmanaged mind. So I hope that makes sense here and feels relatable to you. And the last thought I want you to be aware of and I’m laughing a bit because it’s so sneaky is the thought, I’m exhausted, right? So really examine how often are you thinking the thought, I’m exhausted or I’m so tired and how do you [00:14:00] feel when you think that thought?
And it’s so funny because for most of my clients, when I’m able to show them that they’re having these thoughts, they tell me the resulting feeling is more. exhaustion, they feel even more depleted, or maybe they even feel frustrated. And what I want you to know is that constantly thinking the thought, I’m just so exhausted, is also going to drain your energy levels.
It’s going to be an energetic leak during your days. And what tends to happen in our actions when we think this, is we tend to even eat and eat from this place because emotionally it just all feels so draining. So we will comfort eat to gain some energy back. So know that you can acknowledge that fatigue is occurring in your body without continuously layering on the thoughts that you’re just so tired and exhausted.
And I just want you to examine how that isn’t going to be useful. And you’ll know these thoughts aren’t useful because you’re going to feel that constant [00:15:00] drain in your body. So the question I really would love for you to consider today is, what is your current pattern of thinking that is exhausting you?
If you really did an inventory of the thoughts you think daily, what is the most energetically depleting thought that you can see
that creates emotional exhaustion in your body. Notice how your thoughts affect you and notice the thoughts that drain you. So you can see, Oh, of course I’m feeling exhausted because emotionally that leak is happening throughout my days. It is so worth having this awareness and tackling this at the root.
And in case you’re new here, or it’s not obvious because sometimes it isn’t, The work of Naturally Healthy Eating will be solving things outside the scope of just the foods you’re eating. It’s going to do internal work and learning at the core level how to best care for yourself as a human, both physically and emotionally.
That work is what will allow you to [00:16:00] solve your food struggles, become a naturally healthy eater, and lose weight for the last time, if that is your goal. I hope this topic was valuable today. I hope you gained some insight here that can help you get some energy back, and heal any exhaustion you may be experiencing.
The most universal result that my clients create from my work, Apart from consistent, healthy eating is less stress and higher energy, and that is no accident. It’s because the deeper work that is required to eat healthy naturally in your life also solves for your energy levels.
And it does not have to do with micromanaging food externally or anything else in your life externally. And there is some peace in knowing that you have everything you need now to heal this area of your life. No hustle required. All right. Thank you for being here with me today.
